"We're not checking on you but we are"

Lynn Evans, Official AIC Sweet Grandma

Oh man what a first great day!!
I was so nervous I woke up at 6:30am, and then left my apt at like 8:30 to realize I left my transit card upstairs -_-
Made it to HR in a jiffy and filled out paperwork
I officially know all other 8 interns (3 guys, 3 girls) because my brain is now apparently great at remembering names and faces

To jog my memory:
Andrew/Drew - junior at Randolph in Lynchburg, VA; lacrosse, unpaid, kind of looks like Kyle Epstein
Moses - junior at Swarthmore, lived on the Upper West Side; knows everything Italian and the language, lived in Siena
Matt - graduated from Kenyon, Ohio boy, working at the Smithsonian for American Art next year, boyfriend Michael in London, lives near beach (must check out beach in chicago lol)
Kendall - graduated from Univ of Anglea (sp) with masters in Pre-Columbian Art, went to Tufts for undergrad; Ohio girl from Akron, boyfriend Ollie in London
Carrie - getting her masters from Georgetown in Art History/Museum studies, from VA, boyfriend Charles in London but moving to San Fran soon
Hannah - graduated from Bates, specializing in Modern European art (awesome thesis on Paris and Post-Impressionism, 108 pages hoo wee), boyfriend Andy in London (notice a trend?)
Kat - graduated from Swarthmore with English/Art (Photography) major, from Wisconsin, working at a school in the fall, has cool tupperware from Target
& Emily - graduated from Emory (in Atlanta), is originally from South Carolina, can't handle snow

Whooooo the team is set!
Lots of fun finding intersections, similar study abroads, living places, etc.
Really awesome and nice group of people
and of course our supervisor Robin Schnur of Student Programs, Mary Erbach of Family Programs, and Anne Morse from Adult programs
Lynn Evans from administrative education is just too sweet shes essentially our grandmother :D

The entire day started off with so much paperwork, explaining all the different staff entrances (there are three, we can only use one)
Making temporary badges, getting fingerprinted
Lots of orientation about time sheets
and then lunch at Cosi with the gang
Come back, and the best activity of breaking off into pairs and being given random galleries

Hannah and I got the American galleries and we analyzed it from the lights to the carpet, fun stuff
But after our presentations we had free time to roam the galleries, and Room 109 is so far my favorite, the contemporary japanese art room by Tondo Oda (sp)

Saw the miniatures room which was pretty awesome haha
Photography was okay
Revisited stock exchange floor which I realized might be used for events haha
Modern art, contemporary art
European modern art where Kendall and I bonded, met up wtih Moses, and reveled in the magic of Mondria(a)n's landscape

It feels amazing to be around people just as passionate as I about art history and education without it being pretentious :)

Post-work coffee/lemonade to catch up further about boyfriends and how amazing the art institute is

Just pigged out on my sandwich and jalapeno chips, watching some anime before i get up the energy to do my homework hahaha
Sooooo much reading wtf

Called my mom when I got home and she gave me my fortune, apparently this summer I better be on high alert when I go outside, must eat better for the sake of my stomach; next year I will have a dream come true and have an amazing job, and then apparently in 2015 or 2016 I will be married, but it will be difficult because I will have to choose between two guys.

Oh silly burmese fortune tellers.
